Beam me up Scottie...

Friday Jan 11.  Finally some sun here in Western Washington.  Granted it came with chilly temperatures in the low 40's but as long as that sun is out it's not too bad working outside.  All the exterior walls are up, not counting the garage, and most important some of the interior beams which will support the roof are also up and
getting ready to do their job.  Remember my comments in a recent post regarding optical perception?  First the house looked way too small, then the subfloor was put in and it looked even bigger than we imagined.  Now most of the walls are up and it is looking small again.  When I stand "inside" and actually walk around the rooms and imagine furniture etc it really is OK.  Just weird how it looks at various stages.

So there was a slight goof on Friday by the site development contractor.  He placed the two septic tanks about 10 feet from the house right next to the front door.  I didn't think this would be a very attractive amenity to the front yard, less than 10 feet from the front walkway leading to the house, so I pulled out the plans and sure enough the tanks are supposed to be sited about 65 feet from the house on the other side of the driveway.  Contractor was great.  He was still on site, I showed him the site plan and he fired up his monster trackhoe and dug a new hole in the correct position and moved the tanks.  Just goes to show however that it pays to check these things often.  Much easier to move them right after they were placed than after all the pipe connections and pumps are installed.

Easy to see now the overall shape of the house and one of the most distinguishing features which is the slope of the shed type roof.

And the other very unique feature, the glass enclosed dining/sitting room.

We think this will be our favorite room in the house.  Just have to figure out who is going to clean all those windows 15 feet up.
