Cookin' with gas!

Oh man, the closer we get, the farther away it seems.  But the plan is coming together and everything seems to be shaping up in grand style... however slo-o-o-o-o-owly...

So, finally we got the installers for the kitchen appliances to come over on Thursday... great guys!  And they really knew what they were doing.  Bruce and I were certain that this huge 36" stove was never going to fit into the 36" opening between the cabinets, at least not without Vaseline.  But it went in sweetly and it's pretty amazing looking!  That gigantic propane tank buried in the back yard is what's going to fuel this baby.

Bruce is completely in love with it, and especially with that gizmo right above...  No, this is not a medieval torture device...

Bruce's Pot Filler Dream Come True
So now, instead of two steps from the sink to the stove with a full pot of pasta water, it's zero steps.  We had the whole house designed so that this would be the first thing that visitors would see when they come in the front door.  :D

And another problem solved...  He likes orange juice with lots of pulp and I like orange juice with no pulp.  It takes a very large refrigerator to handle requirements like these, plus his half gallon of 1% milk and my half gallon of Vanilla soy milk.  Plus, the farm is producing buckets of blackberries and we have to put them someplace, after all.  Our freezer-fridge combo is as close to a walk-in as you can get and still fit it into a normal kitchen.  Our GC thought that cavernous opening was going to house a king-size Murphy bed for the in-laws.  But no, it's just for keeping stuff cold.  It's magnificent.

Oh, and by the way, we're saving that plastic peel-off stuff for when we have a private moment together.  It's almost as satisfying as popping bubble-wrap.

And speaking of satisfying, for those of us belonging to the Instant Gratification Crowd, the garage is shaping up beautifully.

Bruce saved tons of shekels by opting to finish the garage ourselves (he forgot to ask me first, however!), and it's almost done already.  Bruce has nearly finished installing 13 sheets of OSB, which I started painting white today.  The plan is to make a combination laboratory and art gallery.  Seriously! Think about it.  All kidding aside, we have no walls for hanging all our stuff!  So we plan to rotate our art throughout the house, including the garage, and just see how it goes.

"Give me a break!!!!"
Well, I was going to finish up with a photo of the "end" but got photo-bombed by Gabe.  So we'll just say, "Hugs and stay tuned!  Moving Friday!"

  1. Nice job you guys! I have a bunch of matching onyx that I purchased in Pakistan in 1980. Some nice vases, candy dishes and other stuff. You may want to come by and pick some out. David Quiring

  2. That is one smokin' hot kitchen, guys, and you haven't even started cooking! Very Impressive! (When the spirit moves you to do so, please expound on your private moment activities with plastic sheeting for those of us innocent souls who've apparently missed out on one of life's special moments. ;-) John T.
