Baby Steps...

It may not look like much, but to us, it was cause for a celebration.  This weekend for the first time ever, we were able to get my car into the garage.  Tight fit, but in is in!

"Where's the Vaseline, Mabel?"
So now that the garage is getting organized, we're bringing the rest of our stuff from the tack room in the stables where it's all been stashed for the past year.  Nice free storage, but unfortunately it came with all sorts of vermin at the ground level, plus a stable full of poop-filled starlings living in the rafters. With enough packing tape, pallets to stack stuff on, and plenty of thick tarps, so far our goodies are unscathed...  but we have many boxes remaining to bring in.  Stay tuned!

And speaking of getting organized, new houses have no places to just put stuff.  I mean, when you have 50 or 60 baseball caps, each one holding a precious memory from some sporting event decades ago, there needs to be a place to keep them all handy.  And handy describes the BruceMeister, who created this beautiful hook board for the garage just outside the mud room.  Gotta love it!

OK... I'm hooked already.
And this little hook by the other mud room door, where all the wet dogs come trailing in their mud and wet hair several times a day, has saved our relationship.  Nothing's worse than muddy wet towels on the floor, so Bruce, being a very clever guy, figured it out and put this sweet little hook up today.  A wet towel hanging on a hook is almost pleasant to observe, and Bruce might get lucky tonight because of it.

Now I'm really hooked...
The tomatoes are all gone now, but their memory lives on in the form of swarms of tiny fruit flies that have invaded our kitchen and mud room.  They seem to like beer too and tend to congregate around the beer tap when no one's looking (I mean, who wouldn't?).  So we hired a fly exterminator named Pearl, and here she is, below, perched in her perfect web right over the kitchen sink where the flies love to hang out.

Pearl, the fly catcher
Unfortunately for Pearl, she built her fly trap outside the window, and hasn't caught anything in several days.  We have noticed that she is losing weight, and we're seriously worried about her fate.

Meanwhile, Bruce continues to explore the boundaries of culinary excellence.  Just look at this gorgeous broccoli cheese spinach soup he created!  It was delicious.  Yum!

If you are curious about Bruce's cooking, or would like to visit our zoo here (Pearl is a special attraction, and yes, you may feed her), or if you would like a real time demonstration of me meditating my car into its tiny space, or if you just want to come over and help Bruce chop some wood, we're having an open house on October 26th, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, or whatever time you want to come, whichever is soonest!

Park here.  The deer will show you the way...
Stay tuned.  It never ends.  :D

  1. Oh my gosh! Sounds like bliss, despite the chaos! Are you going to put horses in the barn soon? Because I have the tack! This all sounds lovely - don't worry, you'll be caught up soon... :)
