Baby Steps

WOW!  Three weeks since I last posted.  Much activity but a lot of it was behind the scenes.  Working with my contractor to change my deck material from clear cedar to a tropical hardwood.  Cost is an issue but I think we have worked out a good compromise.  But before I go any further I wanted to post
a photo of the pond side of the house with all the beams and columns in place for my architect Jay.  He always reminds me that I am not posting enough and he has not seen the house since they installed the cross beams.  So Jay for you, here you go.  I think it was pretty clever the way he lined up the columns and cross beams with the window frames in the dining room and bedroom.

The electrical rough-in is done,  215 openings (outlets including cable, phone, ethernet etc), 2 ceiling fans, 41 recessed lighting fixtures, among the standard heat pump wiring, septic wiring, 50 amp outlet for the hot tub, 30 amp feed for the stables, etc.

The electrician put in three different types of recessed cans for us to choose from.  There are 41 of these scattered throughout the house not including the specialized ones like wall washers for highlighting art work, low voltage ones for the kitchen island lighting, and others.

The electrical sub panel installed in the Master Suite laundry room.  Because the house is so long it was cleaner to run a single large cable from the main panel to the Master Suite sub panel instead of having multiple home runs all the way from this end of the house back to the main panel by the garage.

Gas fireplace in the Master Bedroom and blocking and outlets above it where the flat panel TV will be mounted

This is the media panel that I had installed in my office.  All the phone, cable TV, and ethernet cabling in the house is interconnected in this panel.  Makes it easy to make changes to cable service without running new cables.

After the electrical rough-in was inspected by the county and passed for covering, the insulation guys came in and put those big fluffy blankets of insulation between the wall studs on all the exterior walls, under the floor and in the ceiling.

Last week the drywall was hung.  This week the drywall tapers are  patching all the imperfections in the drywall, and taping the seams and screw holes.  That should take the better part of this week depending on how long it takes to dry between coats.

We are making final selections of coutertops, flooring, tile, and interior paint.  Still marching to an early July move in date.
